Kenneth Freedman, LICSW
President

Since graduating from Boston College with an MSW in 1997, I have been practicing psychotherapy with families, couples and individuals. For the last eight years, I have been working exclusively in private practice on the South Shore and Cape Cod. In addition to working with the general scope of mental health issues, I have tailored my expertise to highlight men's issues, clinical supervision, couples work and eating disorders.

Prior to and during my studies at Boston College, I participated in extensive training through rotations on inpatient psychiatric hospitals and outpatient mental health clinics. In my last year at Boston College, I had the fortune to train as an intern at The Family Center in Somerville (now in Arlington) with supplemental training/consultation from Dr. Salvador Minuchin. This experience was instrumental in sparking my passion for psychotherapy guided by family systems theory.

In 2000, I joined the Coalition as a general member. After speaking at a luncheon about men's issues in January of 2005, I was invited to join the Board of Directors.  Subsequently, I was elected to the office of President in November of that same year. It is an exquisite honor to hold the office of President. I am enthusiastic about the Coalition's future, most especially this new website.

I am a graduate of Smith College School for Social Work and received advanced training for two years from the Boston Institute for Psychotherapy. I regularly attend peer supervision meetings to help remain accountable to my clients as well as stay connected professionally. My experience includes working with a wide range of individuals, using my training and experience to weave a client's past history and present life to move forward to a more satisfying future.

The Coalition has been very important for my professional life as it has enhanced my learning, my ability to network with other psychotherapists and has allowed enriching social contacts as well. It is a unique organization, often described as collegial and non-competitive in nature.
